Suggestions and Complaints

Complaints, Appeals and Suggestions

The complaints and appeals mechanism supports transparency, impartiality and confidence in certification. Submissions are received in writing, registered and assessed.

What can you submit?

Complaints may concern certification activities, inspections, the practices of a certified producer or business, or a product marketed as organic.

Appeals may challenge certification decisions, including refusal, suspension or withdrawal of certification, or removal of a product’s organic status.

How to submit in writing

Clearly explain the subject, scope and grounds of your submission. Include the relevant decision or product details, supporting documents where available, and contact information so that we can respond.

Assessment and resolution

  1. The submission is registered and its subject reviewed.
  2. Additional information or documents may be requested. Technical review, document checks or an additional inspection may be carried out where necessary.
  3. Appeals are assessed independently of the people who made the original decision.
  4. The outcome is based on factual findings and communicated to the applicant in writing. Required corrective action is implemented and relevant decisions may be reviewed.

All complaints and appeals are tracked throughout the process and brought to a conclusion. Suggestions for improving our services may be submitted through the same channel.
